Practices resumed on Monday September 14, 1998 and following tryouts last week the squad will be comprised if 78 boys and girls ages 6-18. The team is comprised of swimmers of varying ability levels, and the coaching staff and myself look forward to an exciting season.
My name is Ed McLaughlin and I'm a fourth year Head Coach for the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua Swim Team. We are an Age Group squad comprised of 78 swimmers (65) (in the summer), and over the last three seasons the team has amassed a 54-10-1 dual meet record. We compete in the NENEAPC Boys & Girls Club Swim League where our record was 10-1-1 last season. In addition to the Boys and Girls Club League we participate in the newly formed Tri State Swimming Association, a USS Swimming based league where our record last season was 4-1. Our Fall season runs from September through April, culminating in the Boys and Girls Club Nationals in Sarasota, Florida. Over the course of the last year, our 17 and under boys captured the NENEAPC League's Sectional Championship, our Tri State squad battled to a solid third place finish in the league championships held at the University of New Hampshire and in one of the most thrilling championship competitions yet, battled the Peterborogh Wavemakers for a solid second place finish in this summers Granite State Swimming Association Championships held at the Jenny Thompson Competitive Pool, at Guppy Park in Dover, NH. The team had it's finest finish in our five years in the GSSA, taking second by just 14 points, after remaining in first place for three days, before dropping an impressive relay battle to the surging Wavemakers. Our record this summer was an impressive 6-1. Fall swimming competition kicks off on Saturday October 23 against the Charlestown, MA Boys and Girls Club, Tri State action tips off on Sunday November 8 as the Sanford Y Titans make their first trip to Nashua in what should be thrilling swimming action. Over the last 9 years the team has had the pleasure of having 12 swimmers come home from the Boys and Girls Club Nationals sporting 16 National Championship titles. These
swimmers include Lori Berube, Gene Anderson, Matt Carpenter, Jamie Millard, Noelle Pulomena,Lisa Hammond, Tim Boire, Brendan McLaughlin, Matt McPherson and Maureen O'Leary.
Maureen making the most impressive performance yet, by a Nashua swimmer capturing an unprecedented five National titles at this years Championships. The mighty 8 year old swimmer known affectionately as "Mojo" captured titles in the 100 yard individual medley (1:29:19), the 50 free (35:34), 50 butterfly (43:73), 25 free (16:83) and 25 back (19:88), while also amassing 150 points and taking third place in the overall 8 and under girls point standings. During the months of June, July and August we participate in the Granite State Swimming Association. A collection of 31 teams from New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont and Maine.
